ABSTRACT

This chapter will take the information developed in Chapter 3 and transform it into an operational system to meet the identified needs and wants of the customer. The design process will be described for a typical supply chain with some variations noted for different supply chain requirements. As an introduction, we will briefly outline two of the most widely referenced supply chain models-the SCOR model and the GSCF model. Then we will describe two major programs used as important components of supply chain systems-CRM and PLM. With that background, we will identify the characteristics of an effective supply chain system.
