ABSTRACT
We begin this book by discussing why we have developed generalized structured component analysis, which is a relatively new technique for structural equation modeling. We rst give an overview of what structural equation modeling is, and then provide a review of existing methods for structural equation modeling, emphasizing their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, we introduce generalized structured component analysis and describe how it maintains the advantages of existing methods while overcoming many of the disadvantages.
