ABSTRACT

This book is designed to provide the reader with a general understanding of how the frequently used performance improvement tools/methodologies are used and what a typical output would look like. The way these tools/methodologies are presented here was designed to supplement and provide more detail in how to implement and use the common tools that are frequently referred to in the Little Big Book series and in the other books that are focused on improving organizational performance. Some of the tools that are discussed are very complex and, to be adequately addressed, it would require that a book be dedicated to just that tool in order for the reader to become a skilled user of the tool. A typical example of this is the methodology entitled “Design of Experiments.” In other cases, the information presented in this book provides adequate direction to allow an individual to effectively use the tool in most applications. A typical example of this is “Brainstorming.” The tools we have selected provide a combination of the tools that are used in problem solving, continuous improvement, and innovation. This approach allows the book to address the common tools/methodologies that are used in the books that make up the Little Big Book series.
