ABSTRACT

Building space hardware is a challenging task for many reasons. The satellite/payload has to survive severe mechanical stress during launch and operate in the hostile environment of space dealing with elements such as hard vacuum, radiation, extreme temperatures, and temperature fluctuation. The system is expected to function for a long duration with very little help if any malfunctioning happens. To cap it all, the space systems are expected to do more with less-less mass, less volume, less power! Before we discuss the aspects regarding the realization of space hardware, it is useful to briefly review the environment in which the satellite has to survive during launch and operation.
