ABSTRACT

In Chapter 6 we introduced two components of improvement skill-reactive improvement and Proactive improvement is what we need to design new products, choose new directions for our companies, and new systems. Chapter 13 contains detailed discussion of this approach. Reactive ment (the subject of s deals with correcting or improving processes-reacting to flaws such as defects, delays, and waste. The WV model (introduced in 6) shows the connections among proactive and reactive improvement and process control Figure 9-1). We described process control in detail in Chapters 6 and 8. Proactive improvement will be discussed in detail in Chapters l3 and 14, and we'll touch on it briefly in Section 9.1 as part of identifying the problem for reactive improvement.
