ABSTRACT

The preceding chapters, 7-11, described discovery, management, and improvement of existing processes. Chapters 13-14 will describe using proactive improvement methods to find new directions (for example, a new product and processes to produce it). This chapter deals with planning and executing tasks or projects that have not been done before and typically are one-time efforts. Such activity spans both ends of the WV Model as shown in Figure 12-1 and logically seems to fit here between the preceding chapters and the following chapters.
