ABSTRACT

Most of the scientific data available relate to foodborne and waterborne pathogens and their diseases. This primarily involves ingestions or direct intake into the gastrointestinal system. With solid waste, dermal and respiratory infections and diseases are important. Probably, as will be shown, respiratory diseases are the most important route for diseases to workers and the public from solid waste. Pathogenic bioaerosols are also an important source of disease.
