ABSTRACT

Ethylene is the most widely produced organic commodity in chemical industry with an annual global demand of over 140 × 106 tons and a growth rate of 3.5% per year [1]. It is mainly used as a monomer for making polyethylene. Ethylene could also potentially serve to make high octane number fuels via oligomerization in the near future provided a cost-ef‚cient high-capacity access is retained. However, it is at present mainly produced via steam cracking of naphtha or ethane.
