ABSTRACT
Vaccine development has made tremendous strides in public health for the prevention and treatment of diseases. Despite these achievements, there still remain a considerable number of diseases for which vaccines have not been developed. Reasons for these include: degradation of the antigen in the body before it reaches its target, inability to stimulate a robust immune response and safety, among others.
