ABSTRACT

Introduction Embryos are recovered from donor mares with single ovulations on approximately 50 to 65% of cycles. Presuming that the fertility potential of the mare and stallion are not at issue, the only way to significantly improve embryo recovery is to stimulate development and ovulation of multiple follicles. A goal in the horse breeding industry has been to develop a protocol to increase ovulation rate without adversely affecting embryo collection rate per ovulation.
