ABSTRACT

Post-traumatic epilepsy is an important consequence of neuronal damage following traumatic brain injury. Recent literature indicates that the majority of seizure events after such traumatic events are non-convulsive seizures. The absence of motor signs makes diagnosis difficult, many cases are underor mis-diagnosed, and therefore, this disease remains poorly understood. There is very little literature currently available on research in the area of post-traumatic non-convulsive seizures. In this chapter, we will review the state of clinical and experimental research on non-convulsive seizures in posttraumatic epilepsy.
