ABSTRACT
This chapter is intended as an introduction to the study of combinatorial commutative algebra, some of the topics were chosen in order to motivate the subject. Part of our exposition was inspired by [41, 393]. An understated goal here is to highlight some of the works of T. Hibi, J. Herzog, M. Hochster, G. Reisner, and R. Stanley.
