ABSTRACT

Abstract: Solubilised vat dyes are derivatives of vat dyes. Complications associated with reduction of vat dyes at the shop-floor – few of which are even prone to be over-reduced – have led to manufacture of these dyes from respective vat dye in either of two different methods. Dyes are water soluble – which is enhanced in the presence of little soda ash – possess negligible affinity for cellulosics. After application, original vat dye is recovered through oxidation of dyed textile. Solubilised vat dyes produce only light shades with fastness properties parallel to parent vat dye. These dyes are very important for dyeing of polyester-cotton blend in single bath.
