ABSTRACT

Abstract: Water, the universal dyeing media poses various problems like, wastewater load, inability in complete dissolution of dye and chemicals, postdyeing drying etc., which makes the technology of dyeing complicated and increases cost. Carbon dioxide in its supercritical state is capable of solubilising dye and chemicals and leaves no wastewater load at the end of dyeing. It is non toxic and inexhaustible in atmosphere, no post drying is required, non-flammable and most interesting is that it requires no auxiliary chemicals except dye, hence cutting down cost of dyeing many-folds.
