Scheduling II: The precedence diagram method (PDM) In 1964, an “enhancement” of the traditional critical path method was developed. This enhancement has become so standard today that it has been totally incorporated under the term critical path method (CPM), while the term precedence diagram method (PDM) has all but disappeared. Today, when a project management software package says that it does CPM scheduling, it really means PDM scheduling.
