ABSTRACT
General relativity was entirely different. Einstein labored intensely for many years to produce his final elegant picture of the universe. He made mistakes along his path to one of the most remarkable scientific leaps of all time. General relativity is an extension of special relativity that incorporates gravity. It remains the foundation of our understanding of the large-scale universe.
