ABSTRACT

The use of geochemistry and isotope methods in hydrogeology usually involves a wellplanned sampling and analytical program. The following is provided as a guide for students and professionals taking water samples for geochemistry and isotope analysis. Table 10.1 provides a summary of the basic requirements to be met in terms of sample size and storage. Much of this chapter presents routine sampling and analytical methods. Sampling for some analyses may be more complicated, and the sampling containers, volumes, and methods should be discussed in advance with the laboratory involved.
