ABSTRACT
Innovative ideas and concepts are being thought of for future sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFRs), toward achieving challenging objectives, by various countries through a few initiatives. The motivations for developing innovative concepts are development and demonstration of safe nuclear technologies, sustainability, economy, proliferation resistance (PR), amenability for closed fuel cycle program in conjunction with the pressurized water reactor (PWR) fuels, reducing the amount of high-level wastes, reduction in the heat load to the geological disposal, minor actinides (MA) burning to reduce toxicity reduction, and efficient nuclear resource utilization.
