ABSTRACT
This chapter provides the reader with an overview of some estimation methods and key concepts that are needed to design effective robust procedures for estimation and outlier detection. Some arguments are rather technical. We try to present them in a simple form, with the aid of appropriate references, R codes and graphical displays.
