Psychophysiology is an area often referenced by philosophers, physicians, physiologists and psychologists. Since the 1950s, researchers working in the area of physiological psychology have been called ‘psychophysiologists’. They were interested in psychophysiological phenomena to understand human nature and behaviour. Recently, ergonomists also have shown interest in using psychophysiology to understand and quantify the interaction of the human mind with products and the environment.
