ABSTRACT

Anthropometry is the study of human body sizes and abilities. Anthropometry is derived from the Greek words ‘anthropo’, meaning ‘human being’, and ‘metry’, meaning ‘measure’. Anthropometry provides descriptive information about the distributional characteristics of physical body dimensions and functional abilities of large samples of people. Physical anthropometric dimensions include basic whole-body measurements such as standing height, as well as specic body segment lengths, widths, depths, circumferences and weights. Functional abilities include things such as grip strength, push and pull strength, reaching capabilities, elds of vision and applied measurements specic to task performance.
