Over the past several decades, there has been a shift in structure of many organisations. Workplaces that were once characterised by independent workers are now transitioning to systems of interdependent teams. As global competition increases, new pressures are affecting the way organisations do business. To successfully navigate the market, they need specic skills and expertise, as well as the ability to adapt quickly and effectively in uncertain situations (Kozlowski and Bell, 2003). This increasing complexity has led to team-based structures being used in many modern organisations (Salas et al., 2008a).
