ABSTRACT

Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) picks up with the part failure mode. Chapters 2 and 3 cover in detail how to perform a criticality analysis, develop a critical items list, and identify failure mechanism sources, failure mechanisms, failure modes, and failure effects. RCM focuses on failure modes and how to measure them. The RCM road map shown in Figure 7.1 illustrates the process that is required before implementing a reliability-centered maintenance solution. See the reliability analysis in Chapters 2 and 3 for additional details on what must be done leading up to implementing a RCM maintenance solution.
