ABSTRACT

Peruorinated polymers exhibit outstanding properties such as chemical resistance, high-temperature stability, and long lifetime.1 Peruorinated ionomers (PFSIs) that consist of alinear uorocarbon polymer and asmall percentage of pending acid side groups are particularly interesting and important materials for the preparation of polymer electrolyte membranes (PEMs). Due to peruorinated backbone, PFSI membranes are relatively chemically and thermally stable and have good mechanical properties. Moreover, PFSI membranes have good proton conductivity. PFSI membraneis an important and most widely used PEM in chlor-alkali industry and PEM fuel cells (PEMFCs).
