ABSTRACT

This manuscript provides basic materials for an introductory course level on random vibrations, including a review of probability theory; concepts of summation, multiplication, and general functions of random variables; descriptions of random processes and their origins; responses of single and multiple degrees-of-freedom linear systems such as machines and structures due to transient and random excitations; and analyses in the time and frequency domains for reliability design, system identifications, vibration testing, and control in engineering applications.
