ABSTRACT
Fire suppression and alarm systems play a key role in protecting people and property from re. Being able to analyze the impact that these systems have on protecting people and property plays an important part in determining the level of safety they provide. Estimating detection response is the rst step in analyzing the impact of these systems. Fire detection must occur before it is possible to activate suppression. For this reason, re detection becomes an important element in performance-based design.
