ABSTRACT
The SFPE Engineering Guide to Performance-Based Fire Protection (SFPE, 2007) denes performance-based design as “an engineering approach to re protection design based on (1) agreed upon re safety goals and objectives, (2) deterministic and/or probabilistic analysis of re scenarios, and (3) quantitative assessment of design alternatives against the re safety goals and objectives using accepted engineering tools, methodologies, and performance criteria.”
