ABSTRACT
A mathematical proof is a deductive argument for a mathematical statement such as a theorem or a lemma. Any such mathematical statement consists of a set of assumptions, and one or more conclusions. A proof of a given statement is an argument that (hopefully) convinces the reader that the conclusions of the statement logically follow from its assumptions.
