ABSTRACT
It will be recalled that the stimulus for this book was generated by (a) the 2007-2011 work of the Design Methodology Commission of the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM), which resulted in our previous book “Rock Engineering Design”, and (b) through the further encouragement provided by Professor E.T. Brown of Golder Associates in Australia who recommended that the logical follow-on subject should be “Rock Engineering Risk”. This current book is the result, following the Design Methodology Commission’s work during the period 2011-2015. The members of the Commission are listed in the Acknowledgements section at the beginning of the book.
