ABSTRACT

As the Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD) has certain advantages, such as fewer supplies, practical geological conditions and seismic effects, etc., it has been widely used in hydraulic engineering for nearly 20 years. In south-western China, there are dozens of concrete faced rockfill dams that have been built or are under construction or being planned to be built. Therefore, it plays a crucial role to master the deformation of CFRD and find material properties for optimizing the design and performance evaluation of the dam (Chen, Y.F. et al. 2011).
