ABSTRACT
Two phenomena came together during the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: a predicted shortage of physicians and advances in technology. Use of technology could potentially solve the physician shortage. In addition, the baby boomer generation continues to age and require more healthcare. Technology may allow them to age in place at home while receiving monitored healthcare services.
