ABSTRACT

Marginalized communities that struggle with food insecurity have been traditionally excluded from academic discourse. Therefore, describing food insecurity in such affected populations requires a critical appraisal of the historical, economic, and political factors that have shaped these communities. Furthermore, many minority groups have deep traditional ties with food within their cultures. Understanding food insecurity within this myriad of dynamic and interrelated issues is crucial to informing interventions that can address food insecurity at its root causes and have lasting impact across a spectrum of objectives.
