ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will look at some representative cases of indoor and outdoor lighting. It is impossible to cover every single space or room that someone would want to illuminate, therefore the most common ones have been selected in the hopes that the principles by which light source selections are made will act as a guide to the reader for any situation. The focus is mainly on color temperatures and color rendering options while the levels of illumination should be decided by the designer based on existing standards and various parameters such as availability of natural light, the age of the people occupying the space, the nature of the tasks performed, the room area and ceiling height, and so on.
