ABSTRACT
The basic structure of a quantum well (QW) laser is not much different from the double heterostructure (DH) laser structure. However, the width of the active layer is approximately a few tens of nanometers, so that quantum con-nement of the carriers occurs within the active layer. The laser may contain a single QW or a multiple QW (MQW) in the active region.
