ABSTRACT

The normal brain weight is 1290 to 1440 g for men and 1230 to 1390 g for women.6 The normal brain is composed of two cerebral hemispheres with a visible pattern of gyri and sulci. The cerebral hemispheres are divided into several lobes, namely the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes. The cerebellum and brainstem are found on the inferior aspect of the cerebral hemispheres. The brain is protected by the cranial bones, the meninges, and the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid.
