ABSTRACT
The transition to valued-based care will require a transformation of the underlying model of clinical care delivery, including changes to the scope of physicians’ clinical practice and behavior. Achieving and sustaining these necessary changes requires a skilled physician champion who can effectively influence his or her physician peers. This chapter explores the context and need for physician champions, their role in important initiatives, selection criteria, and responsibilities as a member of a clinical change team.
