ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses two topics: how to construct a reverse supply chain and how to apply the Supply Chain Construction Blueprint when building a reverse network. Components are returned and recycled, and products are returned, refurbished, repaired, remanufactured, and recycled all the time. A reverse supply chain network, different from a forward supply chain network, must be specifically designed and operated to support such actions. This chapter applies the template of the Supply Chain Construction Blueprint from Chapter 2: “The Blueprint” in a very detailed manner to a reverse supply chain scenario. This reinforces the methodology in a multiechelon setting, and it illustrates the differences in building and operating a reverse supply chain.
