ABSTRACT
A 13-year-old female is admitted to the emergency department having been involved in a road traffic accident. She does not open her eyes spontaneously but does so when you say ‘Jane, open your eyes’. She starts talking, but not appropriately, shouting out occasional words. She will not follow simple commands, but when you press on her fingernail bed, she uses her other arm to push you away.
