ABSTRACT
It is difficult for most people to gain an understanding of reverse osmosis unless they first understand the principles of natural biological osmosis. In the simplest terms, osmosis can be defined as the naturally occurring process whereby water is transported through a membrane from a solution with a low salt content to a solution with a high salt content in order to equalize the salt concentration (Figure 3.1).
