ABSTRACT

Layout is the arrangement of chapters, sections, formulas, gures and tables in the report or thesis. More specically, a layout is concerned with the placement of text, gures and tables within a page. A good layout communicates the information to the reader in a clear and effortless manner. For a book, the publisher will deal with the layout but for a report or thesis, the responsibility lies with you. As long as you follow the report or thesis format requirements of your institution, you can choose not to do anything more to enhance the layout of the thesis. However, considering the amount of time you have already spent on writing the thesis, you may nd it worthwhile to follow some simple rules to make your report or thesis visually appealing to the reader. Rules for a good layout are given below.
