ABSTRACT
This book has been written specially for engineering and technical sciences students, undergraduates as well as postgraduates*, who are required to complete a research project and present the nal report or thesis† as a partial or sole requirement in a degree programme. Its purpose is to provide a framework for rst conducting and then writing clearly and comprehensively about it. In this chapter, we provide an overview of these skills that will be addressed more fully in subsequent chapters.
