America’s public school system’s plunge into mediocrity was jump-started by Madeline Murray O’Hare’s 1963 atheist victory in the Supreme Court.† Denied the right to freely exercise their religious beliefs, students and schools embarked upon a rudderless journey, in search of the false ethereal nirvana promised by the hippies of the 1960s.
