The division between entry barriers and post-entry barriers can be applied to both trade barriers and FDI barriers.1
All of the tariff barriers and most of the NTBs discussed in Chapter 2 are entry barriers: they restrict or regulate, and in the case of NTBs sometimes prevent, the entry of products into nation-states.
