PRICE R.C. 17.05. 1911 Rio WI/USA 01.07. 1977 Bethesda MD/USA Reginald Carrier Price obtained the BS degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison WI, in 1935 and in 1943 the MA degree in economics from American University, Washington DC. He was from 1936 to 1939 district sanitary engineer of the Wisconsin State Health Board, then until 1941 assistant survey analyst, US Department of Agriculture, until 1943 then hydraulic engineer of the National Resources Planning Board, from when he was assistant professor of engineering until 1946 at the New York University, New York NY, continuing as engineering economist of US Bureau of Reclamation USBR. He also was secretary of the Commission on the Corporation with Technical Divisions of the American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE, whose member he was since the early 1940s. Price was appointed in 1950 director of the US Department of the Interior’s Division of Water and Power. He thus was in charge of project review and coordination for the then recently established Division, succeeding thereby William G. Hoyt (1886-1971). From 1954 to 1957 Price was an economic advisor for the United Nations’ Bureau of Flood Control and Water Resources Development in Thailand. From 1961 to 1966 he was the director of California’s Department of Water Resources, and from 1968 to 1972 took over as water resources advisor to the Mekong Project in Thailand sponsored by the United Nations. Price has published a number of reports on the economics of flood protection, on flood plain management, and on the beauties of waters in California State. Anonymous (1948). Price, Reginald C.
