ABSTRACT
Ceramics have been produced for centuries. The earliest ceramic articles were made from naturally occurring raw materials. Early civilizations found that clay minerals became plastic when water was added and could be molded into shapes. The shape could then be dried in the sun and hardened in a high-temperature fire.
