ABSTRACT

Aiming to meet the goals of global renewable energy, several systems to harness wind power have been proposed. Offshore wind solutions have unique advantages, and as an example, in the United States is the dominant ocean energy resource, consisting of 70% of the total assessed ocean energy resource when compared to tidal and geothermal resources (Musial 2008). This technology has rapidly changed from conceptual to demonstration phase, with realistic prototypes being tested in discrete locations of the world.
