ABSTRACT

During the past decade, the global window market has seen some major challenges. In developed markets, such as in Western Europe and North America, window fabricators were facing relatively slow market growth, demanding customers, and a highly competitive environment with intense price pressure, factors that were caused by overcapacity as well as cost-effective imports of raw materials and nished products. In developing countries, especially in China and Eastern Europe, window fabricators had to manage their rapid growth while building a sustainable position by offering cost-effective quality products and quickly adopting lean manufacturing principles.
