ABSTRACT

The elastic modulus, the ratio of extension to original length. See tensile test.

(1) The undesirable deeply scalloped edge of deep-drawn components due to preferred orientation. A typical cup-shaped component suffering from the defect will have four equally spaced deep scallops separating the ears that are aligned along and transverse to the rolling direction of the original sheet. (2) The formation of ears or scalloped edges around the top of a drawn shell, resulting from directional differences in the plastic-working properties of rolled metal, with, across, or at angles to the direction of rolling.
