ABSTRACT
Next-generation identification (NGI) may be one of the most valuable tools in law enforcement’s investigative toolkit for human identification. As we have already seen in previous chapters, reasons for people going missing, as well as the dangers that may drive them into making this decision, can be very complicated. But there are additional complications that must also be considered. NGI offers many ways to protect the identity, and thus the safety, of missing individuals. It can also be used to reveal identity theft and associated fraud.
