ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of revenue integrity management and the emerging role of the medical data auditor (MDA) in a provider environment. The MDA can support any of the chief information roles discussed throughout this book. Chapter 6 focused on the development of financial metrics within the healthcare industry and the dynamics of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). This chapter provides a broader perspective on revenue management through the use of MDAs.
